This is a card game for people who are into kittens and explosions and laser beams and sometimes goats. We took that description straight from the site, because, let’s face it: we’re not going to be funnier than the guy behind The Oatmeal.
Anybody who has a cat that races around at 3 a.m. or randomly bites you for seemingly no reason has experienced the phenomenon of Exploding Kittens. Cat suddenly goes boom. Everyone is surprised. Except for cat people, because they see the signs. The crazies in the eyes. The lashing tail. And they know how to defuse an exploding kitten. You basically need to let your little obligate carnivore get its predatory instincts out – either with a laser pointer, some catnip, or whatever your best method of distraction is, large chunk of meat.
Exploding Kittens gamifies this feline phenomenon. There is one fewer exploding kitten in the deck than there are players. If you draw an exploding kitten from the deck, you lose – unless you can defuse the kitten. Use your strategy and wits to arrange it so that your fellow players end up with the exploding kittens and you escape unscathed. But you should know going into it that eventually all but one of you will be exploded.
